Wrinkle Correction through Botox and Dysport
How does it work?
Botox and Dysport are prescription medications that are injected into the facial muscles in areas where moderate to severe lines between and around the eyebrows exist in adults. The injections work to temporarily improve the look of crow's feet and frown lines.
Wrinkles are caused by a combination of many elements. Cellular changes, collagen depletion, squinting, and frowning or concentrating cause the muscles to contract which develop wrinkles over time. Botox and Dysport are used to target the underlying superficial muscles by blocking neurotransmitters called Acetylcholine. The activity of the muscles are temporarily reduced and the appearance of lines are softened. Botox and Dysport can be used as preventative treatment to help reduce the development and deepening of lines and wrinkles.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment time varies from patient to patient. A consultation is an important step in ensuring that Botox or Dysport are the necessary treatments for correcting or preventing wrinkles. Due to the different needs and goals of each patient, the treatment can take approximately 10 to 20 minutes. Patients will begin to see the effects as early as a few hours after your injection, but maximum results are typically achieved 7-10 days after treatment. It is important to return in 2 weeks for your follow-up visit so we can evaluate the results.
How long does the treatment last?
Botox and Dysport treatments last approximately three to four months. It is important to remember that each patient and treatment is different and the results can last less than or longer than the estimated four months. We will attempt to determine the optimal dosage for you based on your goal, but in the case that you do not achieve your desired results on your first visit, you may need to return for a second injection. In order to develop an individualized ongoing treatment plan for you, it is important that you book a follow-up appointment four months from the time of your initial injection. At this appointment, we will evaluate the results and duration of your treatment.
